Sorry this is short and has no pics...

Hello everyone. So nothing entirely earth-shattering has occured during my first week in Dallas, but I have learned a few things that you might find insightful, and perhaps even amusing. Here's a list:

-Deep Ellum does exist, for I have been lost in its depths with a U-Haul still attached to my Jeep.

-The main DART station also exists downtown. I randomly came across it while driving around in The Big D.

-I am now required to hate every other city in Texas, which isn't very hard to do when all the other cities I've been to in Texas pretty much suck. Austin is for HIPPIES! ;o)

-You can be in a really posh neighborhood and then the slums in a matter of one block (or by crossing to the east side of Highway 75 down here).

-There really is a Starbucks on every corner. Seriously.

-Gay men love to go walking together on the Katy Trail about one block west of my apartment, but so do a lot of other people, including Mexicans who look like barrels without shirts on and their obese ladyfriends sans bras.

-I never knew how much I used a microwave until I didn’t have one… speaking of which, I should go buy one today, but I looked for a Wal-Mart near here and the closest Supercenter is on the other side of downtown by railroad tracks and that scares me a little.

-Living with my family in close quarters for more than two days is entirely unacceptable.

-You are a total loser who should be quaratined in some sort of a concentration camp if you don't have a TollTag. I fall into this category.

-Miami Vice is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen, but it has some cool pink mist shots and really awesome cars, boats, and airplanes.

Wheels! Glad to have you back! It's been very difficult not having anything to read lately, what with you and Sack becoming non-bloggers! Glad you've learned so much in your first week! And stay away from those barrel mexican men, even as irresistable as they are! Those chicks sans bras are pretty tough and probably carry weapons!

You're probably right, Jaime... Good thing there are police men patrolling that area.

I also learned that Walgreens sells gaucho pants here in Uptown. I really had to fight the urge to buy a pair.

Sorry the blog isn't very aesthetically pleasing this time. My pirated Internet is intermittent at best. I didn't even know the blog had posted...

HAHA, gaucho pants huh?!? Well I thought it was a city ordinance in Dallas that you own a pair. Lord knows Jeff owns several!

And pirated internet is the only way to go until you get on your feet! Aesthetics aren't that important, as long as you have some new useful information for us!

Welcome to the life of an urban snob! I get cranky when I have to go to Northern Virgina via the Metro. And there are people who do that twice daily when the commute!
And I know that like me, you think commuting is for losers.

Boo the Suburbs!

PS: Found cheap airfare to DFW from DCA today. Only problem is I'll have an effing layover in Chicago. I'll probably buy tickets soon. I'll keep you posted.

I just did not know how skeezy Deep Ellum actually was. I know I was scared of the bums and the alternative urban youths roaming the streets. Glad we made it out safe, Maud.

Commuting sucks, but the 'burbs are easier to get around. Eff these one way streets!

So do you love Dallas more than you love the Cowboy Burger from Applebee's? And do they have the cowboy burger in Dallas? That's the only way I'm coming to visit....

I don't know why but my previous comment posted twice, which is why I was forced to delete one.

Uh, there's a burger that is far superior to the Cowboy Burger. It's at Hoffbrau Steaks and yes, I will take you there. You will think you have died and gone to hamburger heaven.

Actually, Geoff did die and go to hamburger heaven (his version) last night at The Idle Rich Pub. They have a bleu cheese stuffed hamburger and about 7,000 different scotches and whiskeys...

Gourmet hamburgers and whiskey? It sounds like a tiny place of heaven if you ask me!

Yesth, Amanda, I have found a plethora of places to take you when you visit.

Kids, I should have REAL Internet again by Friday, so I look forward to blogging for your reading pleasure and/or displeasure in the very near future!
