Hello, Goodbye.

As Friday nears, I am bidding my farewells to Ruidoso... fortunately I pretty much hate everything about it save for a few people, the mild summers, my former days of snowboarding for free, and The Links at Sierra Blanca (no, I don't golf there, I yog around the course).

My bon voyage sort of started when Jeff and I got our apartment in Dallas because I immediately packed everything I could (that wasn't already packed) and started counting down the days until July 22. It pretty much ended Sunday morning when I was having a yomit session after partying with Evelyn and Jason, and a few select Ruidosoans. I'll blog about that later on Eve and Wheels, I think.

Anyways, tomorrow I'll be in the LC having my hair dyed by the famous Alex, who has moved to another salon (if anyone's interested) that doesn't have a grody English sheepdog sauntering around in it (can dogs saunter?). At least I hope it doesn't have a big, shaggy dog roaming around... I hated that dog.

I'll also be dining at Si Senor, and taking pictures of my burritos and probably sending said pictures to Colonel McAdoo. Mwa ha ha ha ha. Maybe Amanda, too... she loved the Si Senor like a native New Mexican.

My mom is also going to the Big LC with me and is apparently going to get a new phone at Sprint, so I may or may not be changing my phone number... I don't know if I can part with my beloved Las Cruces/505 number quite yet. I'll keep you all updated, of course. Not that any of you call me unless you have to ask questions about anatomy, sloths, or what to do if a centipede crawls out of your drain. I like to think that if any of you were ever on Who Wants to be a Millionaire (or whatever it's called), I'd be your lifeline because I pretty much know everything that you don't need to know, which is not valued by society in any way, shape, or form, but helps me beat people at trivia. :o)

So, bub-bye 505 and chel-lo again to Tejas. I shall return in October for Homecoming and more burritos, and possibly another hair-dyeing, depending on whether or not I can find someone in Dallas who does colors other than bleached blonde. ;o) Scary.

It's also scary that I can probably sing the entire song Hello, Goodbye by The Beatles... also the title of this fair blog entry. Jeff, you are SO going to miss me singing the soundtrack from Fiddler on the Roof (but so are Eddie and Donica) for like two weeks until you get to Dallas, but fret not, for then you can hear me sing all the time. LOL! Sucker.

Wheels, the 505 will greatly miss you! But the DFW Metroplex is a great place to go, and we'll keep the burritos and hair dye ready for you!

I miss Alex (single tear). And I loved that dog. He was cute. You're just jealous because he didn't like you.

That dog needed a haircut (insert Brian Fellow voice). His dog sense probably informed him I hated him. He was an attention-monger who knew deep down that he made everyone uncomfortable, and suffered from acute self-loathing disguised in a bad dog costume.

And thanks for the well-wishes, Jaime. Better come visit again! I guarantee my sofa sleeper is far superior to any bus stop bench...

HAHA, I bet it is! But those bus stop benches don't have the bar in the middle! So that might be a toss up! And be careful on the move. That's a long haul.

Fave, you are going to have a blast. Moving to a new city is so exciting! I say ditch the 505 number like a bad habit… and you have to get a new drivers license as soon as you get there too, then NM will be just a place you used to live…it’s refreshing.

Why should she keep the 505? It's so boring...I like 214.
Will you now become a Cowboys fan? I'm sure Jason and Kevin would recommend that you do. Maybe you can meet T.O.!

I'm glad i was there to celebrate w/ you for you last weekend in the 505. Sorry, you got so sick. I guess that is what 3 bottles of wine, a car bomb, and numerous other shots and beer does to us these days. I'll definately make a trip to the Big D and we can do it all over agian. Hopefully the BF won't get kicked out.

I might keep the 505/LC number. Not sure yet. What area code would I be in if I'm in Uptown?

And I wasn't born here, my only relative I have here that counts is my mom, but yes, some of my BFFs live here. I was born in Seattle, and my family is spread out in NM, TX, and SD... and Costa Rica...

I'm pretty excited you'll be my occasional neighbor, Jeff. If you ever get tired of the DART benches, you can come hang out on my pale green fainting couch.

Wish me luck on the drive tomorrow... it'll be me and Willie with a U-Haul in tow for many, many hours. Good thing he likes to listen to Neil Diamond.

Everyone should come visit and see who can get me drunk enough to puke. So far the last two times have been when I've hung out with Eve... yesssss.

What is it with big cities and the 2 something area code? Mine is 202, NYC is 212...

Maud, you are correct I don’t hate NM at all, sometimes I actually miss it. I love all my New Mexican friends very much. But I am a strong advocate for change, plus I don’t want Sarah to receive the same strange looks I did when she gives her phone number out and they say “Where the hell is 505 from?” It takes a lot of effort and energy to have to defend good ol’ Nuevo Mexico!
Good luck on the drive Fave! Be safe and hopefully I will see you soon in the great state of Tejas!

Dear Dr. Statistics,

I actually believe its a 1-in-10 chance of getting a 2 as the first number in an area code because technically 0 could be the first digit although I don't think that's actually the case. But, if you rule out the fact that the 900 and 800 area codes are designated for toll free and toll numbers that probably increases your chances of getting a 2 as the first digit in your area code.

I'm not even going to question why you have such random knowledge of area codes. Perhaps you were a producer for tha Ludacris song? Or you're just lame enough to look that up :-)

I'm gonna go with answer number 1. Jeff is straight gangsta.

What's up with the random person putting up the stupid websites that no one will click on cause we're not morons?

Ohio sucks and Dallas is fabulous. Thanks for the phone number advice, everyone. I will most likely be changing my number soon so that when/if people ever come visit me, I can buzz them in to my building...

I'm going to try and post some pics of the new apartment as soon as I get it partially put together. Right now it's a mess because I chose to get drunk Saturday (starting at, oh, around 6 p.m.) instead of unpacking.

Going out seemed like a good idea at the time and it still does! I had SO much fun last night in Dallas... and the Original Pancake House was as wonderful as ever. Found out today there's one near my apartment...

That's even better! Good choice of apartments! And how could you not drink on your first official night in Dallas! Good choice! Glad to see you made it safe and sound.

The OPH near my apartment is at 2900 Lemmon. The Web site says it's "Lemon", like the fruit, but as a new "Dallas chick", I know better. ;o)

Wow, already referring to yourself as "a new Dallas Chick" huh?!? Atta girl! Blend in!

Sarah said...

I actually can't take credit for being the first to refer to myself as a "Dallas chick". I'm still the 505 kid who doesn't know her way around...

Oh well. The DART can take me anywhere I can't find on my own! ;o)

And, if you get tired or lost, you can just crash on one of the benches! Multi purpose!
